Finally, another post

For those of you who have been wondering what happened to us, we're still alive and kicking. In the last month Nora has grown a lot (as infants are wont to do). She now weighs a whopping 13 pounds, 3 ounces and loves to smile back at her parents funny faces and noises and, to the extent she is able, always examines her surroundings. Lately she's been trying to laugh too. It's pretty cute. Sometimes we forget that she is just barely over 2 months old.

Lets begin with Nora's first play date at 6 weeks old.The other, slightly unhappy baby is Simon. He was born only a few days after Nora to our friends Rachel and Noah (who we met through Regent). Dad dressed Nora for this play date... can you tell? ( :



Nora turned two months old on Feb. 26 and that weekend we took a trip down to Oregon to visit family and celebrate her Great-Grandma's 85th birthday. Rather than drive all the way to Portland, we drove only to Bellingham and took the train from there. (Thanks for the idea Trinette.) Nora did really well and it was nice that we didn't have to stop traveling when she needed to eat, burp or be changed. And, she was a hit with all the train passengers who thought she was just the cutest thing ever! We humbly agree.


Nora met lots more family and friends who have been loving her and praying for her from afar. One of which was her cousin Elie who just recently turned 2 years old. She was VERY attentive, constantly asking, "Bebe Noah do-wing?" (Translation: "What's baby Nora doing?") and piling blankets on her to make sure she was warm enough. On another, less baby oriented note, Ben has begun to receive acceptance letters from some schools that he applied to for PhD studies. He has now been accepted at Cambridge University, University of Durham and University of St. Andrews, all of which are in the UK. It is pretty exciting, though now we have to figure out a way to pay for these rather expensive universities. (By the way, if any of you reading this have some extra money lying around and don't know what to do with it, I have an idea for you…) We are still waiting to hear back from Oxford, Notre Dame, and Princeton Theological Seminary. For those of you who don't have a bunch of extra money lying around, you can pray that we might be offered some funding at one of these fine institutions.
