One Month

Well, hello again everyone. I can't believe that little Nora is one month old today (or yesterday since this post took longer than anticipated). A lot has happened during her short life. For instance, she was born weighing 6 lbs 13 oz but now she weighs around 10 lbs. (Apparently Nora is a good eater like her papa.) Also, big news in the Edsall household, we got the official Canadian birth certificate in the mail today. Eleanor Mae Edsall is now an official Canadian. Next step, register her as a US citizen and get her a passport.

Nora spends most of her days eating and sleeping and pooping (pretty much like the rest of us). However, she has added more coos and even "talks" to herself when she wakes up and falls asleep…if she falls asleep. Today, Nora had another "photo shoot" in the cutest outfit ever (thanks cousin Elie) and we have included more pics and video for your viewing pleasure.

At the end of the shoot, Nora was a little sleepy. Later that day we gave her a bath. Our daughter loves being in the warm water and has even begun to kick her legs and splash about–involuntarily, of course. The voluntary splashing will come later.

We have included a short video for you all. Eventually we plan to show it to future boyfriends and just generally use it for blackmail (although she is so cute there is really no reason to be embarrassed). Enjoy!

Three Weeks Already!

It is difficult to grasp the fact that Nora is already three weeks old. Crazy. Still…I've had colds older than her. A lot has happened in her short lifetime. She already tracks our faces when we are in close enough for her eyes to focus and her many facial expressions continue to surprise us and make us laugh. She is holding her head up on her own very well now (as you can see in the video below) which may not seem that impressive so let me give you a little perspective... When Nora was born, the very first thing that the nurse delivering the baby said, even before Deanna had seen her, was, "Well, she's got a big head and a regular sized body!" What I'm saying is, this kid has got a noggin on her so to be able to lift it at 3 weeks (let alone control it) is very impressive! Hopefully she'll grow into her head eventually. Otherwise she's doomed to either be an intellectual like her father or eternally top-heavy…neither of which bodes well for future social relationships.

I present to you a few of the many faces of Nora…

The Inaugural Post

Welcome to the inaugural post for this blog. While others have discussions of philosophy, theology, politics, economics, etc., there will be none (or at least very little) of that here. The purpose of this blog is simple: to show off our beautiful daughter, Eleanor Mae (a.k.a. Nora), and give all our loved ones a chance to keep up with life's changes.

Nora joined us on December 26, 2008 at 5:04 am. It has been a full week and life is only just beginning to settle into a routine. However, I know that you are all more interested in pictures and videos than in my narrative ramblings, so, without further ado, I present Nora Mae.
